Friends! Please click here and fill out the Capital Campaign Pledge survey. It is similar to the old surveys, but there are some important differences due to council's decision to sell the camp. You can simply reiterate your previous commitment if you choose. Thank you so much. - - edited 28jul11
The October GSHNJ Board Meeting occurred on the 11 Oct 2010 and they voted to sell Eagle Island. There was a big turnout of campers, alumnae, families and friends outside the meeting, to support reopening the camp - you can see pictures of them on the Facebook group "Camp Eagle Island, Saranac Lake, NY".
We hope that this not the end of the story for our camp: a group of passionate and determined alumnae have been working all summer on a proposal for council. Friends of Eagle Island is pending incorporation as a non-profit (501c3). We hope that council will sell the camp at a very low price to the Friends, in the spirit of the legacy of the Graves family gift to the Girl Scouts, so that the camp can be restored and reopened. The proposal seeks the best solution both for girls as future campers and for the financial interests of the council.
